China Import Customs Duty & VAT in Bangladesh: A Simple Guide

Taxes are the part of importing most people underestimate. Bangladesh customs charges on the CIF value — the cost of your goods plus insurance plus freight — so shipping actually raises the tax base too. Here is the plain version.

Import duty (on CIF)

Duty is a percentage of the CIF value and varies by product category. As a rough guide, books and some electronics sit low (5–10%), while fashion, bags and cosmetics run higher (20–30%). The exact rate follows the item's HS code.

VAT and AIT

On top of duty, 15% VAT applies on (CIF + duty). Commercial imports also carry 5% AIT (advance income tax). These are standard and unavoidable — build them into your price from day one.

The de minimis rule

Orders with a declared value of about $50 or less are duty- free under the de minimis rule. For small test orders this can matter a lot.

See your real tax before ordering

You never have to estimate this by hand. The landed cost calculator applies the category duty, 15% VAT and AIT automatically and shows the total in taka. IzzeBuy handles the actual customs clearance for you — read the full import guide for the whole process.
